Ingredients

  • 1 large cabbage
  • 500 grams beef
  • 100 grams brown rice
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 pieces garlic
  • 1 large carrot
  • 3 tablespoons dill
  • 3 tablespoons parsley
  • 400 grams tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lemon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 175°C. Carefully separate cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2In a bowl, mix lean ground beef, cooked brown rice, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, chopped dill, and parsley.
  3. 3Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  4. 4Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf, fold sides inwards, and roll up tightly.
  5. 5Arrange the rolls seam side down in a baking dish.
  6. 6In a bowl, mix tomato sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt, then pour over the cabbage rolls.
  7. 7Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
  8. 8Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. 9Garnish with additional fresh dill and parsley before serving.
